Jessica Domingo, a young talent rising throughout the west coast, will be performing at Seattle’s Hempfest on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. The pop vocalist has been extensively touring the Seattle area in promotion of her award-winning album, ‘Masterpiece,’ which was released in June. Hempfest isn’t the first festival of the summer for Domingo, either; she took the stage at both Bite of Seattle and Pista Sa Nayon. (The former is Groupon’s massive music and cultural festival, the latter is the nation’s largest Filipino American event.)
Hempfest refers to itself as a ‘protestival,’ combining the excitement and community of a music festival and the political awareness of a protest. Their mission is to educate the public on the potential benefits of the cannabis plant. Hemp can be used in dozens of industries and the organization behind Hempfest desires legal reformed usage of the plant throughout the country.
Hempfest has six main stages, at which festival goers can find countless musical acts, panels, guest speakers, and much more. Domingo will be performing on Saturday, August 15 on the Share Parker Main Stage at 3:00 pm. On Sunday, she will be on the Ralph Seeley Stage at 3:00 pm.
Domingo’s manager met the festival’s producer by accident several weeks ago. Upon receiving a copy of ‘Masterpiece,’ the producer invited Domingo to perform at prime time two days consecutively. Thousands of bands applied to perform at Hempfest, and that application ended six months ago. Thus, Domingo’s inclusion in the event is particularly exciting. Last year about 450,000 attended Hempfest.
