Designer Bradley Douglas Jordan’s latest collection was showcased at Fashion Week Brooklyn on October 4th. His line of women’s and men’s clothing was beautifully constructed, ready to wear looks, that was inspired by social media.
“My inspiration is the culmination of [...] Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook,” says Bradley “I usually people watch when I am out in public, but since I am so busy sewing, I turn to these outlets to look at people and what they are wearing.”
The collection was perfect for spring, following a vibrant palette of mostly yellows, greens, turquoise, and peach. There was hints of leather accents and color-blocking seen throughout the presentation, a nice change for menswear. The female models walked out in a variety of looks consisting of swimwear and casual dresses, in bold hues. The minimal use of props and emphasis on design showcased the designers true talent for tailoring and sewing.
“I make ready-to-wear clothing with accents of Avant Garde technique because at the end of the day I am hear to generate interest with people and have them want to incorporate my designs in their everyday life.”
Bradley uses a hands on approach when it comes to constructing his garments. He is very involved in the process of creating down to handcrafting and sewing the looks. He explains, “In most cases people will buy my designs right off the rack [...] I handcraft all of my garments, so I am hesitant at first to sell them because they are my babies.”
