“Honestly, I see this as an unforgettable era in my life,” said Malcolm Favor, 25 year old blogger/entrepreneur for the inspirational blog Dreamer Loop (www.dreamerloop.com). “It’s a time where my imagination has taken form, so people can see and appreciate my crazy ideas,” he laughed.
Malcolm recently launched a Kickstarter for his graphic novel Rebecca and the War of Las Almas. “My story is about Rebecca, a PR person for a multi-billion dollar agricultural company. She discovers the company’s been creating seeds that grant super-powers, but the company did terrible experiments on people to perfect the seeds. Rebecca chooses to leak this secret, but the company sends two super-powered hunters to stop her. She finds out she has hidden abilities and fights back.”
He’s had these ideas for some years. “Yeah,” Malcolm paused, “I had the original concept in ‘08 then I figured it would be best to start with this story.” Since then he worked to assemble a team to bring his dream to life. “I had an artist who did a lot of work for me then quit out of nowhere…that was random,” he laughed. Malcolm continued, “I almost gave up, but my homie, Manny, told me to keep at it, and I think that same day I found the current artist for the book.” The graphic novel is penciled and inked by a Turkish artist named Bulent Sarilar, and his style is reminiscent of Frank Miller and Robert Crumb. The books letters are handled by Mauricio Urquilla of MAU Branding.
“I want people to approach the story with an open mind,” said Malcolm. “First issues are hard, but once things get going they don’t stop.” In his final remarks he said, “If people give a few minutes to check it out, I know they’ll be intrigued.”
