Have you ever dared to pair flip-flops with a classy black dress? It can be shocking to see someone walk in a meeting wearing sneakers below a pair of corporate trousers. Shoes can make or mar your entire look. Similarly, stilettos are strictly for show; at max, you can walk in them. Running or jogging with stilettos on can make you look like a complete idiot. Whether you like it or not, you have to be very particular about the kind of shoes that you wear and with what. There are a number of factors that need to be taken into account before you buy a shoe, even if it fits perfectly.

Thigh high boots are winter footwear. If you are serious about your social image, don’t ever wear leather-skin high boots to a party being held mid-summer. It is outrageous to pair these marvellous boots with something like a poncho, until you are too sleek and tall to let the poncho fall on your belly. Opt an a-line butt covering winter dress, tuck your legs in tights and pull up the boots. Wrap a nice muffler around and finish the look with a flat cap.

SHOE SPECIFIC: Which Shoes to Wear and When

Sneakers: Boot-like sneakers that are currently in-vogue. However, this doesn’t mean that a proud owner of one must flaunt them every time! Pairing sneakers wisely with attire is the key to getting the style correct. Jeans and T-shirts worn with sneakers is a safe bet. However, skirts and dresses can also go very well with a Converse pair. The mixing and match should be done only when you have pictured the final look in your mind.

Flip-flops: Flip flops are as complex as they are simple. You can slip them on with a pair of pajamas but you can’t pair them with palazzos; you can pair them with sweatpants but you can’t pair them with shorts if you want the same style element to remain. But most of the confusion regarding wearing flip-flops is about when to wear them. The best way is to list the places and occasions where you cannot wear flip-flops. You cannot wear flip-flops to a corporate meeting. You can’t wear them to a wedding party or to a reception. You definitely can’t wear them on your own wedding!

Shoes: While the word ‘shoes’ is inappropriately used in place of footwear, shoes are only one of the many varieties that you will find in footwear. Your first acquaintance with shoes might have been when you would have started going to school. Shoes are an essential part of uniform. Therefore, norms related to wearing shoes are something that almost all of us know since our childhood. This footwear type is best worn with corporate suits or formal wear. However, Dr.Martens shoes are an exception. You can wear them with casual and funky clothes too.

Summer Shoes: Like the name suggests, summer shoes are meant to be worn in summers. Apart from the beach, you can wear summer shoes to any place that you like.  Moreover, summer shoes can be worn even during fall, if you are sufficiently covering your feet with socks.

Pumps and Heels: While there are no set rules for wearing pumps or heels, everyone must at least be aware of the basics. If you are too tall, avoid pencil heels. If you are too plump, avoid pencil heels. The first will make you look like a giraffe; the other, will simply stress your feet out.

The above mentioned are some of rough rules that must be kept in mind while pairing your footwear with your attire. They might fit the feet well but might not fit the style or season well.
